The Interior Ministers of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries held their 40th meeting on Wednesday in Oman, chaired by Hamoud Al-Busaidi, Minister of Interior of Oman, who is the current president of the session. During the speech delivered by Saudi Interior Minister Prince Abdulaziz bin Saud bin Abdulaziz, he emphasized that the region and the world are facing dangers and challenges that have increased waves of violence, extremism, and the spread of transnational organized crime. He added that this underscores the need for council unity and the enhancement of collective action, raising the level of security cooperation in line with the aspirations of the leaders of the GCC countries, thereby solidifying security and stability and enhancing opportunities for growth and prosperity. The prince pointed out that combating the drug epidemic requires intensifying cooperation among specialized agencies to combat drugs in order to uncover the organized crimes committed by drug cartels, eliminate their sources, and eradicate their traffickers.
