The "Free Patriotic Movement" (the Current) sees that "the behavior of some parliamentary blocs and political forces suggests they are pushing towards normalizing the presidential vacuum." It considers that "this threatens national partnership, placing the Parliament's responsibility to conduct presidential elections, either through dialogue that paves the way for an agreement on a presidential candidate or by proceeding to a vote." The Current renewed its confirmation of "openness to any dialogue that helps produce a president for the Republic."
The Current warned during its regular meeting chaired by Deputy Gebran Bassil, of what the "illegitimate partial government and its supporters" are planning, to impose a status quo that violates the charter and the constitution, bypassing the vacancy in the presidency to convey the message that governing the country is possible without a president representing Christians in the constitutional partnership equation. The Current noted the "deliberate evasion" by the Minister of Finance in publishing the preliminary report of the forensic audit, viewing it as an attempt by him and the system to obscure the facts, asserting that it is "persistent in pursuing this file until its conclusions are reached and will not allow the efforts made by former President Michel Aoun to clarify the facts of the violations in the accounts of the Central Bank of Lebanon to go to waste."
