The Lebanese army referred 11 detainees to the judiciary in relation to the Black Qurna incident, while releasing several individuals who were under investigation. In a statement, the army said, "Following the tragic incident that occurred on July 1, 2023, in the Qurna al-Sfadh area between citizens from the towns of Bsharri and Bacassafrin, which resulted in the death of the young man Haitham Touq, army units intervened to implement security measures but soon came under gunfire, responding similarly and detaining several individuals. It was revealed that citizen Malik Romanos was injured at that time, who later died from his injuries." The statement continued: "As a result, and based on the guidance of the Public Prosecution, the Directorate of Intelligence commenced an immediate investigation and detained several key suspects. Consequently, upon completing the investigations and based on the guidance of the Public Prosecution, several detainees under investigation were released, and 11 detainees were referred to the competent judiciary." According to circulating information, two of the detainees are directly involved in the killing of the young men from the Touq family in Bsharri.
