Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry and his Turkish counterpart Hakan Fidan agreed on Sunday on the importance of moving forward with the complete restoration of relations between the two countries. This came during a phone call made by the Egyptian foreign minister to his Turkish counterpart.
Egyptian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Ambassador Ahmed Abu Zeid stated that Shoukry congratulated Fidan during the call on assuming his new role.
According to the source, the Egyptian foreign minister expressed his desire to work collaboratively to continue the development of bilateral relations between Egypt and Turkey and to restore them to their normal state.
The call also addressed issues of bilateral cooperation and the exchange of visits at various levels, as well as several topics of mutual interest.
For his part, the Turkish Foreign Minister thanked his Egyptian counterpart for initiating the call, emphasizing the importance of proceeding to restore full relations between the two countries, and welcomed the beginning of communication with his counterpart to enhance understanding and mutual interests for the benefit of the Egyptian and Turkish peoples.
