A Tunisian judicial official revealed to "Reuters" that at least four migrants have died and 51 others are missing after a migrant boat capsized off the coast of the Tunisian island of Kerkennah. The official added that "all the migrants on board the boat were from the Sub-Saharan African region." Tunisian Interior Minister Kamel Feki stated in July that "coast guards have recovered 901 bodies of drowned migrants off the country's coasts from January 1 to July 20 of this year, marking an unprecedented number of migrant casualties off Tunisian shores." Tunisia is facing a record wave of migration this year, along with repeated disasters involving migrant boats from the Sub-Saharan African region attempting to reach the shores of Italy. Tunisia has replaced Libya as the main departure point for those fleeing poverty and conflicts in Africa and the Middle East in search of a better life in Europe.
