International Red Cross Assures: No Risk of Epidemics Spreading in Libya

The International Committee of the Red Cross in Libya announced that it has not instructed the evacuation of the city of Derna, noting that "the presence of corpses does not pose a risk of epidemic spread." The Red Cross added in a statement: "We are focused on assisting our partner, the Libyan Red Crescent, to help the residents of Derna and other affected areas." Additionally, Libyan authorities have opened an investigation into the collapse of two dams that caused a devastating flood in the coastal city of Derna, while rescue teams searched for bodies on Saturday, approximately a week after more than 11,000 people were killed due to Hurricane Daniel.
