The Political Bureau of the "Kataeb" Party rejected any attempts to restrict the work of international forces or undermine the powers granted to them by previous international resolutions, primarily Resolution 1701, which held "Hezbollah" responsible for the outbreak of war and stipulated that the government should assert its authority over all Lebanese territories in accordance with the provisions of resolutions 1559 and 1680.
In a statement, it called on the international community to reinforce "the work of the international forces and take appropriate decisions to enable them to fully carry out their role and to implement international resolutions completely, allowing for the restriction of arms to legitimate Lebanese forces."
The Political Bureau urged the government to "immediately comply with international resolutions and to fully cooperate with the international community to implement them, free from any pretexts."
It noted that "French President Emmanuel Macron's remarks confirmed Iranian intervention in the Lebanese presidential issue and that the obstruction practiced by 'Hezbollah' falls within this framework," considering that "the country is held hostage by 'Hezbollah', which has disregarded all constitutional mechanisms and deadlines, as well as the rules of democratic engagement, and has once again resorted to wasting time while waiting to impose its will on all Lebanese."
The Political Bureau rejected being drawn into this game, whether regarding legislative sessions or the presidential elections, which have become akin to appointing a president. It called on all those concerned about Lebanon to "unite and form a comprehensive national front that works to restore Lebanon and its institutions by all available peaceful means and invites the international community to support it in its mission."
