The World Health Organization announced on Sunday evening an outbreak of measles and polio in Yemen. The UN organization stated on its Twitter account that Yemen is currently experiencing an outbreak of measles and polio. It mentioned that more than 80% of children suffering from measles have not been vaccinated. The organization emphasized the urgent need for vaccination in Yemen.
According to government reports, there has been a rise in cases of polio and measles, particularly in the provinces of Saada and Hajjah, which are controlled by the Houthis in northwestern Yemen. In recent days, the Yemeni government and human rights organizations have accused the Houthis of banning vaccinations in the northern part of the country, contributing to the resurgence of these diseases.
