Energy Minister: Ukraine Has Sufficient Energy Resources to Survive Winter

Ukrainian Energy Minister German Galushchenko stated late Saturday that Ukraine will have enough energy resources to get through the upcoming winter, but the anticipated increase in Russian attacks could disrupt supply networks. Galushchenko told Ukrainian public television: "We have enough energy resources, and in this regard, we feel reassured. The question is to what extent future attacks may affect the supplies." Kyiv stated on Wednesday that Russia had attacked Ukrainian infrastructure 60 times in recent weeks, raising concerns that Moscow may have already begun targeting the electricity network for a second winter in the war. Last winter, thousands of Russian drones and missiles struck energy infrastructure, causing significant power outages. Galushchenko indicated that Ukraine expects Russia to resume large-scale attacks with drones and missiles on energy infrastructure as soon as temperatures drop and remain below freezing. He added: "Low temperatures increase damage, of course. Any temperature below zero already increases the risks."
