Moroccan national team coach Walid Regragui expressed the desire to win the strongest tournament in the world of football, rather than just reaching the Round of 16. Regragui said in a press conference, "We have set a goal to make every effort to surpass the first round; now, why shouldn't we dream of winning the World Cup?" He added, "We will not stop here, but I believe we have sent a message that we are a team that is difficult to beat."
He continued, "When I see our team, we earned a well-deserved draw against Croatia and defeated Belgium and Canada, who have a good team and impressed everyone since the first match. We are realistic, we have a good team, and we will treat each match individually; we will regain our fitness." Regragui stated, "If we are at our best, we can do great things. What I am trying to instill in the team is to resemble European teams in play while incorporating African values and blending the two. I believe this is the future of football, with African technical skills and the tactical rigor of African teams, which makes it difficult to beat us." He emphasized, "The morale of the players is what matters to me; they trust my abilities and fight for their country."
