Qatar Aims to Open Humanitarian Corridor to Gaza.. Blinken: To Prevent Conflict Expansion

The Qatari Prime Minister Sheikh Abdul Rahman Al Thani confirmed today, during a press conference with U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken, that Qatar is seeking to open a humanitarian corridor to facilitate the delivery of aid to the Gaza Strip. He urged partners, especially the United States, to help save civilians from the repercussions of the crisis.

Regarding funds, the Qatari Prime Minister indicated that "his country is committed to implementing the agreement made with Iran and the United States concerning $6 billion in Iranian funds deposited in a Qatari bank." He added that "the amount will be used according to the agreement established with the United States and Iran."

U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken stated that he discussed with the Qatari Prime Minister the need to prevent any party, whether a state or non-state actor, from expanding the conflict between Israel and Hamas. During his remarks to the media alongside the Qatari Prime Minister after their meeting, Blinken noted that the United States is working intensively to secure the release of hostages taken by Hamas fighters to Gaza during their attack last Saturday.
