A source close to his ex-wife, actress Katie Holmes, told the British newspaper "Daily Mail" that Cruise’s daughter "Suri" has already started applying to colleges with her mother's help, as she has sent several college applications and intends to study fashion in New York to be close to her mother, who has extensive experience in the fashion world. The newspaper stated that since his divorce from his wife in 2013, Tom Cruise has rarely seen his daughter; however, he is committed to her expenses until she turns 18. The report continued, "The mother does everything necessary to support her daughter, while the star of 'Top Gun' and 'Mission Impossible' is completely absent from the scene and knows nothing about the girl, not even her interests, choices, or the stages and moments of her life."
