The Secretary-General of Hezbollah, Hassan Nasrallah, indicated that efforts regarding the Lebanese presidential election are ongoing, hoping that regional calm and the Iranian-Saudi agreement will help in achieving this milestone. He emphasized that this matter "primarily depends on the internal situation, while external factors only create an environment for it."
During a memorial observance for one of the party's leaders, Nasrallah noted that due to the difficult economic and living conditions and the movement of the dollar, the state cannot claim that it is unable to act. He continued, "The fate of the country is left to fate, and whenever someone speaks, they refer to the Banking and Credit Law, placing the issue with the Governor; this is the responsibility of all political forces in the country."
He added, "We have always called in the country to set aside political disputes and establish a dialogue table for economic issues. Everyone is ready for a dialogue table regarding the resistance's weapons, but a dialogue table to rescue the living and economic situation is something that no one pays attention to."
He pointed out that "rescuing the situation and the lira requires a real, comprehensive, multi-dimensional plan" and that this issue rests with all political forces, not just the Prime Minister. He discussed the Chinese offers for investment in Lebanon amounting to $12 billion, confirming that this offer is still valid.
In response to Israeli accusations against the party regarding the "Megiddo" incident, he stated that Hezbollah is not afraid and that sometimes responding means not commenting. He continued, "Go take a walk and do what you want," indicating that Israel fears launching a war against Lebanon.
He affirmed that any attack on Lebanese territory would be met with a definite and swift response from the "resistance."
