Bayern Munich scored twice in the second half to come from behind and draw 2-2 with hosts RB Leipzig on Saturday. However, the defending champions slipped to third place after their second draw in the Bundesliga this season. Harry Kane and Leroy Sané's goals erased Leipzig's first-half lead, bringing Bayern's points total to 14, two points behind league leaders Bayer Leverkusen. Leipzig is currently in fifth place with 13 points.
Bayern missed a chance to take the lead when Kane set up his teammate Jamal Musiala one-on-one with the goalkeeper, but the German international shot straight at Janis Blaswich's feet. Leipzig, who had previously defeated Bayern 3-0 in the domestic super cup last month, scored two goals in a span of six minutes. Luis Openda opened the scoring with a counterattack in the 20th minute, and then goalkeeper Sven Ulreich misjudged a corner kick, allowing Castello Lukeba to slot the ball into the net.
Bayern was awarded a penalty converted successfully by Kane in the 57th minute, marking his eighth goal in the league. Only Erling Haaland, the former Borussia Dortmund striker, has more goals, with nine in his first six league matches. Bayern's comeback was completed when Musiala led a counterattack from near his own box and assisted Sané, who found the back of the net.
Ulreich saved Bayern from defeat in stoppage time, coming off his line to claim the ball from Leipzig's forward Benjamin Šeško.
