American Weapons Cause Blindness Among Israeli Soldiers

Doctors at the Soroka University Medical Center in Beersheba urged Israeli soldiers to wear protective goggles for their safety, as dozens of them have been admitted with varying eye injuries amid the ongoing war with Hamas. The doctors released a short video to raise awareness within the army about the necessity of wearing protective goggles at all times to prevent eye damage during combat.

Dr. Liron Kravitz and Dr. Anna Bonin from the ophthalmology department noted in the video that they have treated over 20 soldiers in recent weeks who sustained eye injuries of varying severity, with one soldier even losing his eyesight during combat. The damages were attributed to “shockwaves” from weapons and shrapnel.

The doctors advised Israeli soldiers to consistently wear protective goggles. They added that the U.S. military has reduced eye injury rates during combat from 16 percent to half a percent by ensuring soldiers wear protective eyewear.
