Israeli Army Officers Dismissed After Fleeing Gaza Battles

The Israeli army's leadership dismissed two officers after their units fled the battlefield in Gaza, according to the Israeli newspaper "Yedioth Ahronoth" on Monday. The widely circulated report stated that the soldiers fled after being ambushed by Palestinian fighters in northern Gaza. It added that "the soldiers withdrew after not receiving the necessary support." The two officers admitted that their troops "were sent on a mission inappropriately, after conducting another prolonged activity in Gaza without rest." The newspaper quoted the army as saying: "There is a crisis of confidence in the unit, but it is being addressed correctly by drawing lessons at all levels."
