The Tenth Edition of the International Drumming Festival Kicks Off in Egypt

The tenth edition of the International Drumming and Heritage Arts Festival will kick off next week in Cairo, featuring 30 local and foreign bands as well as various communities residing in Egypt. Festival director Siham Ismail stated that "the festival is aimed at all social classes, particularly the popular classes in neighborhoods and streets that do not have easy access to cultural services." She added, "The festival creates a unique interaction with the audience, evident in the artistic workshop led by the festival's founder and president, Entisar Abdel-Fattah, where all the bands from different cultures participate in a single show, making it appear as if they are one band playing a shared melody." The festival will run from May 27 to June 2, held annually under the slogan "Drum Dialogue for Peace," and is sponsored by the Ministry of Culture in collaboration with the Dialogue Foundation for the Arts of World Cultures and the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities. The festival will take place at five venues: the Al-Hanager Square at the Opera House, the Cultural Garden in Al-Houd Al-Marsoud, Beit El-Sennari, the Child Center for Civilization and Creativity, and the Northern Cairo Wall Theater, where the opening ceremony will be held.
