The popular movement in Diyala confirmed today, Wednesday, that the recent massacre in Al-Omraniah is the seventh mysterious crime in the province in recent times. Ammar Shunbeh Al-Tamimi, the head of the Diyala movement, stated that "all the facts regarding the Al-Omraniah massacre, which resulted in more than 20 martyrs and injured from the Bani Tamim tribe, indicate it is a mysterious crime with unknown motives, especially since it occurred in a secure area."
He added that "the scenario in executing the Al-Omraniah massacre is identical to seven other crimes that remain mysterious, four of which were carried out against members of the Bani Tamim tribe." He emphasized, "The ball is now in the court of the security leaders to reveal the identity of the perpetrators and bring them to justice; otherwise, we will face a significant public explosion."
Additionally, he noted that "the victims' families, despite their immense suffering, dealt with the situation wisely and did not block any roads or display any armed manifestations; their only demand was for justice in revealing who committed this massacre and bringing them to the Iraqi judiciary, which is a legitimate demand."
A double attack targeted civilians near the village of Al-Omraniah in Diyala a week ago, resulting in the death of 11 civilians and the injury of 9 others, including critical cases. The Bani Tamim tribes occasionally face armed attacks in Diyala, including the Shakha massacre which resulted in 8 casualties last August. Meanwhile, Diyala province and other villages from different tribes are witnessing similar massacres, including the Al-Jaailah massacre, which involved women, children, and men.
