Twenty people were killed and over 100 were injured in the Sudanese capital Khartoum and the city of Omdurman during fierce clashes between the army and Rapid Support Forces. The Sudanese News Agency (SUNA) reported today, Wednesday, that many neighborhoods in the Sudanese capital were subjected to intense ground and air bombardment yesterday, leading to significant human and material losses.
As the number of civilian casualties and injuries continues to rise, activists have sent out urgent calls for help via social media, urging citizens to donate blood and medical personnel to head to hospitals that are suffering from severe shortages of medications and other medical supplies. These hospitals are struggling under continuous bombardment, which has rendered over 60% of them non-operational in recent weeks.
Entering its seventy-fifth day, the war has claimed the lives of over 3,000 civilians and injured nearly 5,000 in the capital Khartoum alone, with thousands more casualties reported in various regions of the Darfur region, which is experiencing severe security chaos due to ongoing clashes there for several weeks.
Each side in the conflict is seeking to strengthen its military position in the capital Khartoum, which also includes the cities of Omdurman and Khartoum North.
