Launch of a Platform Between Lebanon and Iraq: Oil for Services

It was announced from the governmental palace today, Wednesday, the launch of an electronic platform that will announce Lebanese services and products for the Iraqi side to choose from, based on criteria of transparency and speed of implementation. This was in the presence of caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati, Deputy Director General of State Security Brigadier General Hassan Shuqair, and both the Director General of the Investment Development Authority of Lebanon (IDAL) Mazen Suwayd and his deputy Dr. Alaa Hamieh. This step comes in connection with the "oil supply" agreement signed between Lebanon and Iraq, where Iraq will provide Lebanon with the quantities of fuel it needs in exchange for Lebanon paying for it through services. The IDAL delegation presented its plans for the platform, explaining the mechanism for its establishment, the modalities for offering and payment, and all aspects of its operation.
