Yazaa has directed a call to the Minister of Public Works and Transport, Ali Hamieh, and the relevant authorities regarding the maintenance of the steel joints of bridges, noting that "the width of the gaps often exceeds 40 cm, which poses a significant risk to public safety." It explained: "These joints are vital to the bridge's structure and should be replaced every 12 to 15 years at most." It continued: "Everyday citizens are challenging death on dilapidated bridges that lack the most basic safety standards and face the risk of car and motorcycle tires falling into the eroded gaps, thereby damaging the vehicles and disrupting their structure and systems, which can lead to veering off course or even rolling over in cases of excessive speed. Additionally, there is a threat to the safety of pedestrians and cars underneath the bridge from falling gravel or other solid materials." It concluded: "This appeal comes as part of the widespread campaign initiated by Yazaa to highlight the most significant death traps on the roads of Lebanon, which has proven effective in mobilizing public opinion and pressuring the relevant authorities to take action, as was the case with the stolen manhole covers. It is hoped that the value of human life will be recognized in a country burdened by theft and mismanagement."
