Informed sources indicated today, Saturday, that the United States will announce a contribution of three billion dollars to the Green Climate Fund, in addition to two billion dollars previously provided by the US to the fund. Established in 2010, the fund is the largest international fund dedicated to climate action and has received commitments totaling over 20 billion dollars. Vice President Kamala Harris will announce this commitment later today at the United Nations Climate Summit in Dubai. Harris represents the United States at the UN Climate Change Conference (COP28) instead of President Joe Biden, as part of a US delegation that also includes climate envoy John Kerry and dozens of senior officials.
