Today, Tuesday, a consultative session of the Council of Ministers will be held in Dima with the presence of Maronite Patriarch Bechara Rai. This meeting was called by the caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati to discuss the risks threatening all Lebanese and to formulate ways to confront them and protect society from these dangers. Mikati's media office clarified that it was not a session for the Council of Ministers in Dima, but rather a "consultative meeting on national issues."
In this context, Minister of Communications Johnny Qorm and Minister of Education Abbas Halabi, as well as Minister of Public Works Ali Hmayyel, confirmed their participation in the Dima meeting. The Minister of Displaced Persons, Issam Sharafeddine, also announced his participation in the meeting, stating that he would request the Patriarch's support on the issue of displaced persons and in appointing a head for the ministerial delegation expected to visit Syria.
Notably, the Minister of Tourism in the caretaker government, Walid Nassar, stated that he would not participate in the meeting, despite having broken the boycott of the meetings of the Council of Ministers. He indicated that he would only participate if the Patriarch issued a direct invitation to the ministers, emphasizing that "the doors of Bkerke are open to everyone."
