The Turkish Caving Federation "TUMAF" stated that early on Tuesday, American cave explorer Mark Dickey, who had been trapped over 1,000 meters underground in southern Turkey after experiencing a health crisis, was rescued following an international rescue operation that lasted several days.
The Federation announced on its official account on the "X" platform, "Dickey has been brought out from the cave's final exit. Thus, the rescue operation within the cave has been successfully concluded. We congratulate all those who contributed!"
Italian rescuers noted that "Dickey was transferred to the medical tent at the camp for examinations."
Mark Dickey, 40, was on an international exploration mission in the Morca Cave in the Taurus Mountains, Mersin Province, when he began suffering from gastrointestinal bleeding at a depth of 1,040 meters.
