The Italian Football Federation announced today, Friday, the call-up of Tottenham Hotspur defender Destiny Udogie for the first time to the squad that will face Malta and England in the European Championship qualifiers this month. Coach Luciano Spalletti included the former Udinese left-back in the team's lineup after the 20-year-old player started in all seven of Tottenham's Premier League matches so far this season. Midfielder Lorenzo Pellegrini will be sidelined following a muscle injury sustained during Roma's match in the Europa League against Servette yesterday, Thursday. Italy currently ranks second, six points behind England, and has a game in hand over all its Group C rivals. The Italian national team will host bottom-placed Malta on October 14 in Bari before traveling to face England at Wembley three days later.
