The highest administrative court in France ruled today, Saturday, to allow the authority overseeing student housing in Paris to allocate more than two thousand student apartments to workers for the upcoming Summer Olympics to be held in the French capital next summer. The Council of State stated in its decision: "There are no legal texts opposing the decision to terminate rental contracts for some student residences on June 30, in order to provide accommodations for the workers of the upcoming Summer Olympic Games and the subsequent Paralympic Games." The entity managing student services indicated that it "will provide alternative housing for the students affected by these measures, who will need accommodation during the summer break." Student unions and local left-wing politicians criticized this approach.
