Amnesty International stated on Thursday that the Israeli strikes that killed Reuters journalist Issam Abdullah and injured six others in southern Lebanon on October 13 were likely a direct attack on civilians and should be investigated as a war crime. Human Rights Watch also stated in a separate statement that the Israeli airstrikes appeared to be a "deliberate attack on civilians and therefore constitute a war crime." A Reuters investigation published on Thursday concluded that an Israeli tank crew killed Abdullah and injured six other journalists by firing two shells in rapid succession while the journalists were filming cross-border shelling from a distance.
