Netflix has threatened to remove a selection of films and TV shows from its platform in the UK if a new broadcasting legislation is introduced by the British government. The "Media Bill" includes several proposals that could impact streaming services like Netflix and Disney+. According to a report published on the "NME" website, under the proposed laws, the streaming service has warned it may have to remove content.
The new regulations would subject streaming content to oversight from a broadcasting regulatory body, and it would need to comply with neutrality laws that traditional broadcasters adhere to. Meanwhile, Netflix submitted a five-page document to the British Parliament's Culture, Media and Sport Committee, stating that "the regulation of streaming services should differ from that of traditional broadcasters," according to "Deadline."
