The United States and its allies held Kosovo responsible for escalating tensions with Serbia, stating, "The use of force to install mayors in areas with Serbian ethnic populations in Kosovo undermines efforts to improve the deteriorating bilateral relations." French President Emmanuel Macron made similar remarks on Wednesday, stating that "the unrest has sharply increased since Albanian-origin mayors took office." Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti accused Serbia of being behind the protests erupting in the north of the country to destabilize his nation.
