A U.S. Pentagon official denied the claims made by the Houthis that they had shot down an American drone off the coast of Yemen. The official told "Al-Hurra" that "there has been no report so far regarding the U.S. military losing one of its drones, and our initial assessment indicates that the Houthi claims of downing an American drone are not accurate." The Houthi-affiliated Yemeni armed forces had stated in a message that "our air defenses managed to down an American MQ9 drone while it was conducting hostile operations and surveillance in the airspace of Yemen's territorial waters as part of U.S. military support for the Israeli entity." They affirmed their "legitimate right to defend the country and confront all hostile threats, and that hostile movements will not deter the Yemeni armed forces from continuing military operations against the Israeli entity in support of the oppressed Palestinian people."
