The General Directorate of Internal Security Forces - Public Relations Division issued the following statement: "On December 21, 2023, the citizen J. Q. (born in 1968) filed a complaint at the Lahfad police station in the Regional Gendarmerie Unit against an unknown person for the loss of his wallet containing one thousand five hundred US dollars while he was working in the town of Mayfouq - Jbeil.
As a result of investigations and follow-ups, the police suspected one of the workers, identified as M. S. (born in 2000, Syrian). During the investigation, he confessed to stealing the wallet and the amount inside it and then discarded the wallet. The stolen amount was found inside M. S.'s shoe. The amount was returned to the complainant, and the suspect was detained and referred to the competent judiciary as per instructions."
