Russian Scientists Analyze Initial Data from Moon-Bound Spacecraft

The Russian space agency "Roscosmos" reported on Sunday that "scientists in Russia have started analyzing the first data received from the Luna-25 spacecraft, following the activation of its scientific instruments for the first time." The agency stated: "Luna-25 continues its journey to Earth's natural satellite... all systems of the automatic station are functioning properly, communication with it is stable, and power balance is positive." It added: "We have obtained the first measurement data related to the journey to the moon, and the scientific team of the project has begun processing it." Luna-25 is the first spacecraft launched by Russia to land on the moon's surface in 47 years, in an attempt to become the first country to achieve a soft landing at the moon's south pole, an area believed to contain pockets of water ice.
