Algeria Foils Attempt to Smuggle Consumer Goods on the Border with Mali and Niger

Algerian customs foiled a large smuggling operation for consumer goods on Monday along the route between the provinces of Tamanrasset and In Guezzam in the far south of Algeria, on the border with Niger and Mali. Customs officials arrested 9 individuals, and the confiscated items consisted of subsidized consumer goods from the public treasury, including more than 107 tons of flour, 23.5 tons of sugar, 1,680 cans of cooking oil amounting to a total of 8,400 liters, and 3,000 kilograms of pasta.
