Rabbi Links Earthquake to Previous Statement by Moroccan King

An Israeli rabbi connected the earthquake that struck Morocco last month to a prior statement by Moroccan monarch King Mohammed VI, asserting that East Jerusalem should be the "capital of the future Palestinian state." Rabbi Moshe Sharrel wrote an article on the Israeli site "Srugim," where he claimed that the king's "bold demand" for Jerusalem to serve as the capital of a future Palestinian state was the cause of the earthquake, as reported by the "Jerusalem Post."

In the article titled "The King of Morocco Needs Repentance," the rabbi asked, "After King Mohammed VI said about two months ago that he would firmly stand with the Palestinians for Jerusalem to be their capital, what happened immediately afterward? Entire areas collapsed and fell apart."

According to the "Jerusalem Post," Sharrel's "theory" gained momentum for linking the king's position with the tragic event that afflicted the kingdom following the earthquake. Interestingly, the rabbi questioned whether the earthquake was merely a geological phenomenon, like those that occur in various parts of the world, or if it could be connected to the king's remarks.
