The Democratic Gathering bloc confirmed, after a meeting chaired by Progressive Socialist Party leader MP Taymour Jumblatt in Kleinson, which was partly attended by former Progressive Socialist Party leader Walid Jumblatt, its position calling for the extension of the Army Commander to prevent a vacancy or gap in the military institution, and to appoint a Chief of Staff and members of the military council to ensure the continuity of the army's work, reinforce its unity, support it, and safeguard it. They emphasized the importance of not targeting the army with inflammatory rhetoric that contradicts the higher national interest, especially given the delicate security conditions Lebanon is experiencing, with the ongoing daily Israeli aggression in the south and continuous threats of escalation.
