Hundreds of Palestinians took to the streets in the city of Ramallah in the West Bank on Tuesday night in a protest following the news of the assassination of Saleh Al-Arouri, Deputy Head of the Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas). Al-Arouri was killed in an Israeli strike by a drone in a southern Beirut suburb, a stronghold of the Lebanese group Hezbollah, which is allied with the Palestinian movement. The Israeli military, in response to a Reuters inquiry, stated that it does not comment on reports from foreign media. The National News Agency, Lebanon's official news agency, reported that the drone struck a Hamas office. Two security sources indicated that the raid targeted a meeting of Hamas officials, resulting in the deaths of four Palestinians and three Lebanese. This attack marks the first targeted assassination of a Hamas official outside of Palestinian territories since Hamas launched an assault on Israel on October 7.
