NATO Increases Military Budget by 12%

NATO announced today, Wednesday, that it will raise its military budget for 2024 by 12% to €2.03 billion, and will also increase its civilian budget by 18.2% to €438.1 million. In a statement regarding the increase, it stated that "the increase in the military budget allows allies to effectively address common security challenges." The civilian budget provides NATO with the necessary funds for personnel, operating costs, and program expenses for the alliance's headquarters and its international staff, while the military budget covers the operating costs of the command structure, missions, and operations worldwide.
