British Foreign Secretary James Cleverly welcomed Israel's decision to suspend legislation regarding its judicial system reform, emphasizing the importance of having a "strong system of checks and balances." He added in a statement that "it is essential to uphold the shared democratic values that underpin British-Israeli relations and to maintain a robust system of checks and balances."
The White House also welcomed Netanyahu's announcement to suspend the judicial amendments, with Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre stating that "America urges Israeli leaders to reach a settlement as soon as possible."
Meanwhile, Israeli opposition parties expressed cautious welcome towards Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s decision to postpone his judicial reform plan, stating that they would work towards an agreement if the government is sincere. Former Prime Minister Yair Lapid, from the centrist bloc, indicated that the opposition needs to ensure that Netanyahu does not resort to "tricks or deceit," citing a "bad experience" with him in the past. He noted in a statement: "On the other hand, if the government engages in genuine and fair dialogue, we can emerge from this crisis moment stronger and more united, and we can turn this into a decisive moment in our ability to live together."
