The Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, confirmed today, Thursday, during his meeting with Sudanese army leader Abdel Fattah Burhan, Qatar’s commitment to supporting efforts to end the ongoing fighting in Sudan, ensuring its unity, security, and stability. The Emir and Burhan held an official discussion at the Lusail Palace.
In a post on his official account on "X," the Emir expressed: "I am pleased to welcome my brother Abdel Fattah Burhan, and the discussions we had to enhance our solid brotherly relations and develop our bilateral cooperation in various fields. I reiterated Qatar's ongoing commitment to supporting efforts aimed at ending the fighting in Sudan, ensuring its unity, security, and stability."
This morning, the Sudanese army leader traveled to Qatar on his third foreign trip since the outbreak of the Sudanese crisis nearly five months ago, as announced by the Transitional Sovereignty Council.
The council, led by Burhan, added: "During the visit, Burhan will hold discussions with the Emir of Qatar regarding the course of bilateral relations between the two countries, methods to enhance them, mutual issues of interest, and developments in the situation in Sudan."
