Belarus: The West Left No Choice but to Deploy Nuclear Weapons

The Secretary of the Security Council of Belarus, Alexander Volfovich, announced on Sunday that Western nations have left his country no option but to deploy Russian tactical nuclear weapons, indicating that it would be best for these nations not to "cross red lines" regarding certain key strategic issues.

He stated, "It made sense to withdraw weapons after the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991 when the United States provided security guarantees and did not impose any sanctions."

According to the BelTA news agency, he added, "The deployment of tactical nuclear weapons on the territory of Belarus is one of the steps for strategic deterrence. If there is any rationality among Western politicians, they certainly should not cross this red line."

He emphasized that any resort to the use of "tactical nuclear weapons would lead to irreversible consequences."

Last week, Lukashenko confirmed that the weapons are already on their way to his country, but it remains unclear when they will be deployed.

The United States condemned the potential deployment of nuclear weapons in Belarus but stated that its stance on the use of such weapons has not changed.
