Caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati requested the United Nations Security Council to exert efforts for the establishment of a permanent ceasefire in the south and to pressure Israel to stop its violations of Lebanese sovereignty. During his meeting with the UN Special Coordinator for Lebanon, Joanna Frontska, he emphasized the ongoing cooperation between the army and UNIFIL forces within the United Nations operational area and Lebanon's commitment to UN Resolution 1701.

In response to Frontska's inquiry about the maneuver conducted by Hezbollah yesterday, Mikati affirmed that the Lebanese government rejects any appearance that diminishes state authority and sovereignty. He noted that the issue related to Hezbollah's weapons specifically is connected to a reality that requires comprehensive national consensus, which should be a priority in the upcoming phase.

He pointed out that, at present, the government is focused on maintaining security stability across all Lebanese territory and refraining from any actions that could undermine it.

For her part, Frontska stated after the meeting: "We always encourage the election of a president as soon as possible to assist Lebanon and its people, and what matters to us is Lebanon's stability." The meeting also addressed current developments in Lebanon and the outcomes of the Arab summit regarding the Lebanese situation, emphasizing the role of political leaders and Lebanese MPs in electing a new president and implementing the necessary reforms.
