Minister of Culture: We Must Protect Our Values, and Deviance is Rejected

Minister of Culture in the caretaker government, Mohamed Wissam Al-Mourtada, pointed out today, Monday, that they are "hinting at the Ministry of Culture's actions and asking: Why should we care about a film or an attempt to pass a law that legalizes deviance when we see the political and living crises in the country?" Al-Mourtada asked in a statement: "Should we tell the hungry to be silent if their clothes are stolen? Of course not, as morality and wisdom demand that we protect our values even if public paralysis dominates national life. Therefore, as responsible Lebanese citizens, we must confront this, even if our position does not receive consensus, or is even met with rejection, as there must be a way for light to enter through the crack." He concluded: "Those who say otherwise are elements of darkness."

In a later tweet on the platform "X," he stated: "Deviance, its promotion, and legalization are rejected both Islamically and Christianly, accepted, and indeed sought after by Zionists and Masons. It is incorrect to attribute the rejection to a particular doctrine and portray it as a backward ideology, especially when this accusation comes from references and figures whose only aim is to enforce sectarian thought to achieve their political gains, clinging to religion for their interests while raising psychological barricades and inciting against other components, disregarding the moral values recommended by their religion to protect their society."
