Interior and Municipalities Minister Judge Bassam Mouawad has directed a letter to the General Inspectorate of Internal Security Forces to conduct a detailed investigation into the events that occurred during the demonstration held by supporters of the Tashnag Party in front of the Azerbaijani Embassy in Ain Ara on September 28, 2023.
In his letter, Minister Mouawad noted that after the leader of the Tashnag Party, MP Hagop Pakradounian, raised the issue of the security forces allegedly using excessive force in a television interview, and since no information has been provided to us regarding the security measures taken during the mentioned demonstration—including the use of tear gas that resulted in injuries among both military personnel and civilians, leading to their hospitalization, as well as injuries to several children with their parents—he requests a detailed investigation into the events, identifying responsibilities and proposing the appropriate disciplinary measures against those found guilty, if applicable.
