Matip Joins Liverpool's Injury List

Liverpool's injury list continues to grow day by day following defender Joel Matip's injury before the match against Sheffield United, who are bottom of the Premier League table, tomorrow (Wednesday). Matip injured his knee during the second half of Liverpool's 4-3 victory over Fulham at Anfield on Sunday, a result that moved manager Jürgen Klopp's team to second place, one point ahead of Manchester City and two points behind league leaders Arsenal.

Klopp commented on Matip's condition: "We don't know the exact time for his return, but it doesn't look good, that's what we can say; he hasn't undergone an MRI yet, so we don't know for sure, but it's not a good injury. It was clear from the first moment." He added, "I spoke to him and told him, 'No, this is not good.' But we do not know how long he will be out."

Meanwhile, striker Diogo Jota is recovering after suffering a muscle injury during the 1-1 draw against Manchester City last month, but he will not participate.

On the other hand, Sheffield United's new manager Chris Wilder wants his players to treat the upcoming match against Liverpool on Wednesday as a cup fixture after being announced as the successor to Paul Heckingbottom today (Tuesday). Sheffield United sits at the bottom of the Premier League with just one win all season, which cost Heckingbottom his job, and Wilder knows what he will face in his first match against second-placed Liverpool.

Wilder stated in a press conference: "I have no doubt that it will be a great start for me in my first game with the team, but we will be armed with about 33,000 supporters at Bramall Lane." He added, "I told the players to look at the game this way, if it were the third round of the FA Cup, what approach would you take?"
