In response to the events in the south and the launch of dozens of rockets towards the Upper Galilee, local reactions have emerged this Thursday afternoon.
**Interior Minister: Lebanon Should Not Be a Threat Platform**
Bassem al-Mawlawi, the Minister of Interior in the caretaker government, stated that Lebanon or its south should not be a platform for threats from any party. He emphasized that "we leave the investigations to proceed regarding the rocket launches and who provided cover for them," noting that there are many non-Lebanese armed factions in southern Lebanon. Mawlawi highlighted in an interview with "Al-Hadath" the need for a state in Lebanon that alone possesses the decision for peace and war and the necessity of adhering to international resolutions, including Resolution 1701, pointing out that the security forces and the army are doing their duty in Lebanon. He added, "We will not accept political messages to be conveyed through security threats."
**Geagea Questions the Government**
Samir Geagea, head of the Lebanese Forces party, addressed the Lebanese government, questioning its response to its commitments under Resolution 1701. He asked, "What are the national obligations that necessitate launching dozens of rockets from southern Lebanon towards Israel at this very moment?" He argued that if the caretaker government, like its recent predecessors, has relinquished the state’s strategic decision in favor of the resistance axis, it has abandoned its primary responsibility for the security of the homeland and its citizens. He further tweeted, "What if a single glass pane were to shatter in a Lebanese citizen's home, where will the Lebanese government get the necessary funds to repair it?" He continued to question whether the Lebanese government has met or decided to launch rockets from the south towards Israel, emphasizing the urgency of this fundamental question.
**Former President Michel Suleiman Comments**
Former President Michel Suleiman commented on the rocket launches from Lebanon, stating: "Enough relying on Lebanese territory as a platform for launching rockets without the state's order and decision."
**Daou: A Crime Against Lebanon**
MP Mark Daou expressed through a tweet that "national sovereignty is above all considerations, and Lebanon is not a platform for rockets serving anyone," asserting that "those who launched the rockets and facilitated them have committed a crime against Lebanon."
**Makary Calls for Caution**
Meanwhile, Minister of Information in the caretaker government, Ziad Makary, urged through his Twitter account for caution and to avoid rushing to broadcast unconfirmed news. He added that the only official source for accurate information in this field is the Directorate of Guidance in the Lebanese Army.
