White Briefs Private Hospital Owners' Syndicate on Mechanism for Covering War Injuries

The Minister of Public Health in the caretaker government, Firas Al-Abyad, held a meeting with the President of the Private Hospital Owners' Syndicate, Suleiman Haroun, in the presence of association members and relevant ministry departments. Al-Abyad explained the mechanism and new tariffs that the ministry will adopt to cover war injuries, which have been included in the Ministry of Public Health's emergency health plan in anticipation of the escalation of hostilities in the south. He also informed attendees that the ministry would gradually start distributing medical assistance, including medicines and supplies received from the World Health Organization, to responding hospitals in border areas. Al-Abyad reminded all hospitals of the necessity to enhance their preparedness on all levels to handle any emergencies, and he updated attendees on the steps and measures taken by the ministry in this regard. On another note, Al-Abyad praised the resilience of the health sector, which continues to provide services to citizens despite all the economic and social challenges the country has faced in recent years, from fighting the COVID-19 pandemic to the Beirut port explosion, leading up to the current severe economic crisis. Both parties agreed to keep their meetings open in anticipation of any security developments along the southern borders.
