Fluminense Defeats Boca 2-1 After Extra Time to Win Libertadores Cup for the First Time

John Kennedy scored a goal in extra time to lead Brazilian team Fluminense to a 2-1 victory over Argentine team Boca Juniors, clinching the Libertadores Cup at the Maracanã Stadium in Rio de Janeiro on Saturday. Argentine Germán Cano put Fluminense ahead with a goal in the 36th minute before Luis Advíncula equalized for coach Jorge Almirón's team with a shot from outside the box in the second half. The teams played two extra periods after the draw. In the 99th minute, Kennedy scored the winning goal but received a second yellow card and was sent off for excessive celebration. Coach Fernando Diniz, who is temporarily leading the Brazilian national team, won the Libertadores title for the first time in the club's history.
