Iraq: Death Sentence for Individual Who Detonated Explosives Among Visitors in 2022

The Central Criminal Court in the presidency of Baghdad-Rusafa issued a death sentence today, Thursday, for a person who detonated explosives among visitors in 2022. The Supreme Judicial Council stated in a press release that "the explosion resulted in casualties and injuries in the Taji area north of Baghdad." It added that "the individual filmed the incident after he detonated explosives among the visitors as a member of the terrorist groups of ISIS," and noted that "the sentence was issued against him in accordance with Article 4 of the Anti-Terrorism Law No. 13 of 2005."
