Israeli newspaper "Haaretz" reported on Tuesday that security estimates suggest the total length of the tunnel network in the Gaza Strip may exceed 700 kilometers. Haaretz cited unnamed security officials stating that "the total length of Hamas's tunnel network in the Gaza Strip ranges between 560 and 725 kilometers, while previous estimates in Israel suggested the network spanned about 400 kilometers." Additionally, officials estimated that there are currently around 5,700 "eye" openings throughout the sector leading to the tunnel network. For its part, Israeli channel "Kan" stated that "dealing with the tunnels in Gaza will take longer than the Israeli army expected, as they are 'longer and more advanced than the estimates before entering the sector.'"
