Hamas leader Ezzat al-Rashak considered Israeli Foreign Minister Eli Cohen's statement that his country will eliminate the movement's political bureau chief Ismail Haniyeh and his predecessor Khaled Mashal as "an official bankruptcy of Tel Aviv." In response to Cohen's remarks on Wednesday evening, al-Rashak said: "Aside from the absurdity of the rude political content represented by the enemy's foreign minister's threat to assassinate Haniyeh and Mashal, which reflects their official bankruptcy and inability to face Al-Qassam on the battlefield, it is a testament to their complete ignorance of Hamas." He added: "We understand our enemy, while they do not understand us, and they do not realize that all Hamas leadership members are martyrdom projects, striving for it driven by the certainty of God's paradise after martyrdom; this is an Islamic value that their minds will never comprehend."
